[Concept] "Pausing" — A place of calm between motion and stillness —
R Hotel Nagoya Station offers the convenience of being just a 5-minute walk from Nagoya Station, while providing a quiet retreat at a slight remove from the bustle of the city. The brand concept, "Home At a Liminal Transit," expresses our wish to create a place of comfort that exists between movement and stillness. As a place to pause mid-journey and take time to reset, the hotel proposes a new kind of stay: not simply "a hotel to sleep in," but "a hotel where you prepare for what comes next."
[Design] Interior design inspired by railways around the world
The interior design draws inspiration from the distinctive atmosphere of railways across the globe — European station buildings, metro systems, and the compartments of overnight sleeper trains. Vintage tiles, deep blues, metal detailing, and soft indirect lighting combine to express, throughout the space, the quietude and sense of anticipation that exist only in the midst of a journey. Motifs evoking "stations" and "platforms" are also woven into the signage and circulation planning.
[Guest Rooms] Quiet private spaces reminiscent of sleeper train compartments
The guest rooms are designed to evoke the compartments of an overnight sleeper train. Window areas incorporate a design motif inspired by train windows, creating the tranquil feeling — found only mid-journey — of watching scenery drift past. Just as individual carriages link together to form a single train, each room comes together to shape a stay experience unique to this hotel.
[Front / Lounge] An entrance space evoking a station concourse
The lounge adjacent to the front desk is designed in the image of the concourse beyond the ticket gates. Hotel guests are served specialty coffee from "TRUNK COFFEE," a specialty coffee roaster born in Nagoya, during limited hours (8:00-12:00 / 16:00-18:00). The space can also be used as a working area.
[Platform Lounge] A place to spend the moments before departure, like a station waiting room
The hotel also features a shared lounge named the "Platform Lounge." Equipped with JMGO's latest 4K laser projector, the "N1S Ultimate 4K," delivering an immersive viewing experience on a screen of approximately 70 inches, and a book library curated by "NAgoya BOOK CENTER," a bookstore specializing in all things Nagoya, it is a space to pick up a book, savor a cup of coffee, and enjoy the imagery on screen — passing the time at leisure before heading to your next destination.
[Collaborations] Three community collaborations launching with the opening
To mark the opening, the hotel is launching collaborations with "TRUNK COFFEE," a Nagoya-born specialty coffee roaster; "NAgoya BOOK CENTER," a bookstore dedicated to sharing Nagoya's culture; and projector maker "JMGO." Together they offer a stay experience where guests can pause mid-journey while connecting with Nagoya's kissaten coffee culture and the everyday life of the city.
